Austin On Rails Presentation

ii, inc., presented on "Rails and Ajax: A Brief Overview from Real-World Projects." The presentation to the Austin on Rails user group was on using Prototype and Scriptaculous to make an Ajax application that made extensive use of drag and drop and other Ajax options to make it perform better for users. The demonstration application was our Agile Project Management system, which we will be releasing to the public soon. In addition, we demonstrated how to write your own handlers demonstrating our work with Google Maps on Luncherator, and why the built in Ajax options with RJS are much more preferable.

AstriCon
10.26.06
Dallas, TX
Based upon our initial efforts to integrate Asterisk with Luncherator and other projects, ii, inc. attended AstriCon in Dallas to keep up to date with the direction of the Asterisk open source phone PBX. We also met with others who are interested in re-developing the Rails Asterisk Integration Gem which we plan on using in future development.
Team Digital Consulting
10.23.06
ii, inc., is hired by Team Digital Consulting to develop a prototype web application in Ruby on Rails related to eCommerce. They only had a 5-week development cycle before they needed the prototype site up and ready for demonstration. Using agile programming methods, the site was completed in time for their demonstration. The prototype site consisted of multiple user types, creators who created objects that were obtained by customers, who used them in various stores for purchases. The created objects were restricted by type and quantity, and a full tracking system was implemented to track who received the objects, and where they were used.

Arkansas Consolidated School Improvement Plan
6.30.06 ii, inc. completes our first year of working with the Arkansas State Department of Education on their online ACSIP plan. Initially sponsored by the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory, the development of this application by ii, inc., allowed for all the schools and districts in Arkansas to develop their requests for federal funding using an online tool, rather than a Word/Excel document as in prior years. The online version allowed for more robust error checking, eliminating the need for tedious manual financial reconciliation and allowing for increased reporting and tracking. In addition, it incorporated significant business rules additions which aided the development of plans, such as in Title I allocation where the old process took up to two weeks to manually balance the Title I allocation to as little as two hours with the new automated business logic in place.

Spansion Passdown
5.3.06 As part of our ongoing relationship, ii, inc. worked with Spansion to migrate their Passdown tool used by the facilities department from an Access VB application to a web application as the old application no longer functioned under newer versions of Windows.
